Why we are an open-source project:
Logframe Lab Team
Last Update 4 years ago
Arqaam, the company developing Logframe Lab, has ratified the 9 Principles of Digital Development. Not only, because it is the right thing to do, but also because we strongly believe it in.
One of the principles says: Use Open Standards, Open Data, Open Source, and Open Innovation
And that's exactly what we are doing, instead of locking our innovation and software code behind license fees, and building proprietary software, we strongly believe that we can achieve more together.
We want to increase collaboration and have anyone in the world support and improve Logframe Lab, to make it better.
Open-source for us means that you will play by our rules, in official terms, we have written them down here. A quick (not-offical, and not legally binding) recap is:
- If you are a non-profit entity (NGO, CSO, grassroots movement, etc) you can use Logframe Lab as you wish
- If you are a for-profit entity (consultants, consulting companies) you can use Logframe Lab as part of your service, but you are not allowed to bill/invoice for the work Logframe Lab has done. And the contract you are doing cannot be solely the use of Logframe Lab.
- People can use and copy our code, but under the circumstance of the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license we have chosen.
- This means if you base anything off this code, you have to make it available too, and not earn money with it (through license fees for example)
